Who I am
Henry Bakker has spent fifteen years leading communications at the most complex end of the market - Shell International, Aramco and the Lyreco Group, a B2B organisation operating across 63 countries and €2B+ in revenue.
He founded HJB Communications to focus on the specific challenge that most change programmes get wrong: making leadership teams genuinely capable of owning the narrative during transformation - not just approving the communications plan.
Clients engage Henry when the stakes are high: strategy repositioning that needs to land beyond the boardroom, transformation programmes where leadership communication is failing, reorganisations where clarity and direction are at risk. The work is always focused on the same outcome - leaders who can communicate with conviction, not just compliance.
How engagements work
Most engagements are retained advisory mandates of 6 to 12 months - embedded alongside the ExCom or senior leadership team during a defined transformation period. Some begin with a shorter diagnostic engagement to establish where communication is working and where it is failing before a longer mandate is agreed.
This is not execution support. There are no content deliverables, no channel management, no communications team to manage. The value is senior judgment, in the room, at the moments that matter.
If you are preparing for a transformation, reorganisation, or strategic repositioning - and you want an experienced communication advisor involved before the announcement rather than after it - the conversation starts here.
